A Poem Home
Hello all and I hope you enjoy my game; A Poem Home.
A Poem Home is a very short game made in less than a weekend for the Random Game game Jam by soapgamingstudios on Itch.io.
The game jam itself had very few rules so I had to get creative to decide what I wanted to make for the competition. I had always wanted to build a make-your-own-poem game and this is a very tiny proof of concept that I now know it is possible. Besides the time crunch I put on myself due to a busy schedule I had a lot of fun making this game and I hope you enjoy my work Poetry has never been a strong suit of mine but I do enjoy it. If you have any constructive comments or remarks please don't hesitate to comment.
I am aware of a certain resolution issue that makes some of the text in the final poem hard to read so I will also be writing the words here below:
If your first reflection in the office was about a day well spent. Your first few verses are these:
Cubicals and keyboards, coffee stains and slacks,
I've done my good work, I've made up my stacks.
So with pride in my work and cheer in my heart,
it is now time for me to depart.
If instead you chose to reflect on a welcome departure, your first segment is this:
With a furlled brow and fatigued mind,
I get up to leave the day's work behind.
I am ready to leave, I am ready to rest!
I'll be home soon, I did my best.
Walking down the street from the office, if you wanted to reflect on the narrow path, your poem's middle said this:
I see a familiar concrete road,
dare I stray I just don't know.
It leads me home every day,
I'll say thanks and be on my way.
If you instead chose to reflect on the spring air, your poem's middle said this:
The Spring air is nice and clear,
I wish I could just work out here.
It shakes the trees and steals nice smells
why so mischievous? It never tells.
Finally if you decided to walk into your house and reflect on the lovely home, this is your ending:
So I've arrived to my homely home.
With a pointed hat like a colored gnome.
I keep it clean and keep it small.
A journey of reflection has made it the best house of them all.
Remember to love and appreciate the small things all around,
and make a poem of your home.
Or if you reflected on the journey, your poem would have ended like this:
My journey was short
but my heart grew larger,
for those who are grateful
are sure to go farther.
Remember to love and appreciate the small things all around,
and make a poem of your home.
Try not to view your choices as good or bad. It's just the poem you got.
Until next time,
God Bless,
